Classroom Excellence

Over the years, The Leo Baeck Education Center has won the Israel Education Prize, the Ministry of Education's Heritage Award, and the AVI CHAI Foundation's Certificate of Excellence for its exceptional educational achievement. Leo Baeck recruits, trains, and retains the highest caliber teachers, who are rated each year by their students in formal surveys. By respecting the voice of the students and providing teachers with useful data on areas in need of improvement, Leo Baeck demonstrates the qualities needed to ensure a constructive learning environment.

Students are challenged in both their mandated curriculum as well as elective courses. In the major subjects of Science, Mathematics, English, and Arabic, Leo Baeck provides special high level courses for students to earn top level matriculation results, where students choose specialized electives, the school offers a broad range of courses including Judaism, theatre, physics, chemistry, biology, computers, Bible, the arts, and more. Leo Baeck's WIZO High School also gives students gifted in the arts the opportunity to develop their talents.

The high quality of classroom learning at Leo Baeck often shows at regional and national competitions, such as the Science Olympics and the Young Scholars program, where students regularly participate and receive prizes in a variety of subjects, ranging from history and Bible to chemistry, math and physics. Finally, Leo Baeck places a special focus on connection with Judaism, with a special department to develop programs for students in many areas relevant to Jewish learning. The goal of this program is to strengthen students' links to their heritage.
