"If we wish to create a lasting peace we must begin with the children." - Mahatma Gandhi
The Leo Baeck Education Center was founded in 1938 on the principle that all of Israel's citizens – Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Ethiopian, Druze, Sephardi, Ashkenazi, Secular, Orthodox, Gay, Straight, Special Needs, Male, Female - are entitled to equal rights and equal opportunities. Situated in the mixed Arab-Jewish city of Haifa, generally considered to be a model of Arab-Jewish coexistence, the reality is that while tensions are generally hidden beneath the surface, much work is needed to close the social gaps and encourage meaningful interaction.
